The Australian Government has created three "Digital Ready" labels for new Televisions and Set Top Boxes to help you understand how the device can receive digital signals.
Digital Ready Labels
From now to 2013 analog free-to-air TV signals are being switched off and replaced with digital-only signals. After the Digital Switchover happens in your area you will need a television that is capable of receiving digital signals or you can purchase a digital set top box to attach to your analog television. Visit your electronics retailer and you will see televisions and set top boxes with these three Digital Ready labels.
Digital TV Capable only with a set top box

This label indicates that the TV is an analog TV and is NOT capable of receiving digital signals. Yes, it is confusing that it says "CAPABLE" however you have to read the fine print underneath where it says that it is only capable when you attach it to a set top box. Review all the latest digital set top boxes which are now available from $60 rrp.
Digital TV Ready Standard Definition
This label indicates that the TV or set top box can receive Standard Definition digital free-to-air shows. With a Standard Definition Digital TV or Standard Definition set top box, you will receive the same free-to-air shows you currently receive on analog TV. Review and compare all the latest Standard Definition Digital TV models.
Digital TV Ready High Definition
This label indicates that the TV or set top box can receive High Definition Digital TV. With High Definition broadcasts, you are able to receive the full range of channels, including those that are unavailable in Standard Definition. Review and compare all the latest High Definition Digital TV models which are now available from as little as $350.
